2014 Canadian Weightlifting Championships
After very good results at La Classique Haltérophile Québecoise earlier this year, Kobaladze continued with a solid performance at the 2014 Canadian Championships (Saskatoon, SK) which was also a qualifying event for this summer’s Commonwealth Games. With six successful lifts the athlete not only secured his 6th Canadian champion title in the super heavyweight category and his 5th Best Male Lifter title, but he also set three new Canadian records, succeeding 175 kg in snatch, 227 kg in clean and jerk and a total of 402 kg. The previous Canadian records belong also to George Kobaladze, they were achieved at the 2013 Canadian championships in Edmonton, AB last year. A very successful start of the year for Kobaladze whose next target is to win a medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
George Kobaladze ranked 11th at the 2013 World Weightlifting Championships held in Wroclaw, Poland. Performing in men's +105 kg division Group B, he successfully snatched 166 kg, 172 kg and 174 kg. Although he missed his 3rd attempt (228 kg), Kobaladze dominated the clean-and-jerk event in Group B with his first two successful lifts, 218 kg and 223 kg. With a total of 397 kg, he finished 2nd in Group B and improved his personal bests in an international competition. 2013 Pan American Championships
George Kobaladze won the silver medal in the men's +105 kilogram weightlifting competition at the 2013 Pan American Championships, held in Isla Margarita, Venezuela. The athlete lifted 171 kg in snatch and 218 kg in clean-and-jerk, for a total of 389 kg behind Brazil's Fernando Reis. Bronze medal went to Christian Alberto Lopez from Guatemal

Elite athlete George Kobaladze sets three Canadian records as he performs on the last competition day (May 19) at the 2013 Canadian Weightlifting Championships in Edmonton, AB.

The super heavyweight completes six out of six attempts, lifting 165 kg, 171 kg and 174 kg* in snatch and 213 kg, 219 kg, 226 kg in clean-and-jerk. With this result, Kobaladze becomes 5 time champion in the +105 kg division and holds the BEST MALE LIFTER title for the fourth time.

Something to keep in mind: Kobaladze enters the Canadian Weightlifting hostory as being the first athlete who lifted a 400 kg* total. This competition is a qualification event for the upcoming IWF 2013 World Weightlifting Championships which will take place in Wroclaw, Poland. Currently, Montreal's Kobaladze is getting ready for the 2013 Pan American Championships that will be held in Isla Margarita (Venezuela) at the end of June.

Arnold's Classic Festical
At the beginning of March, George Kobaladze headed to Columbus , Ohio, to take part in Arnol's Classic Sport Festival, a very popular international sport event. He lifted 172 kg in snatch and 225 kg in clean-and-jerk for a total of 397 kg. With this total he ranked 2nd under Sinclair Formula, meaning second place in overall ranking.

The first 225 kg lift in a competition. It encourages me to excel.

The race was very strong between Canada's weightlifter and Brazil's Fernando Reis in the super-heavyweight class. Kobaladze described the experience of participating at Arnold's Classic unforgettable. Fantastic atmosphere in a packed full audience hall and cheering crowd have certainly contributed to his excellent performance.

2012 Pan American Championships (Antigua, Guatemala)
Last qualification event for the 2012 Olympic Games. Each country achieves qualifications places according to their position in joint team qualification. Canada needs to finish among the first seven teams in this continental qualification event to obtian one quota place for London Games. Kobaladze won silver lifting 171 kg in snatch and 219 kg in clean-and-jerk, totaled 390 kg in the +105 kg bodyweight class. In the joint team classification, Canada finished in the eighth place.
2012 Canadian Championships
Only five attempts were necessary for George Kobaladze to win his third BEST MALE LIFTER title at the 2012 Canadian championships held in La Prairie (QC).Competing in the + 105 kg category, he totaled 392 kg, snatching 172 kg and jerking 220 kg. The 4-time champion in the superheavyweight category put lots of hard work and dedication in this competition year.
Pan American Games (Guadalajara, Mexico)
George Kobaladze wins bronze in the +105-kilogram weightlifting competition. He completes five out of six attempts, lifting 165 kg and 170 kg in snatch and jerking 215 kg, 220 kg and 223 kg for a total of 393 kg. Montreal's weightlifter is very happy to have improved Canadian bests in clean-and-jerk and in total.
COMMONWEALTH 2010 (Delhi, Inde)
George Kobaladze wins bronze in the +105 kg division at the 2010 Commonwealth Games held in Delhi, India. Determined to do better than at the 2010 Worlds two weeks earlier where he ranked 19th, Kobaladze wins his first medal in an international competition with a total of 393 kg. He snatched 168 kg and jerked 218 kg.
